App Sound Release Synth Essentials Collection for NLogSynth PRO

App Sound have released Synth Essentials – a collection of 96 patches for NLogSynth PRO. The patches include fat analog synth sounds from vintage to current pop and electronic music as well as some hybrid patches that mix sounds from the digital and analog world.

The bank is also compatible with the Mac/Audio Unit version – NLogPoly Synth – and is priced at $8.65 USD. For more information visit app-sound.com.

  1. On Jan. 26 NLog PRO dropped the price to $8.99…
As good as it sounds, releasing a sound bank for as much seems a little steep…
BTW; Sunrizer synth which I find of superior quality has 4 sound banks available for free ;)

    1. Hi Leslie,

      this is Rolf from NLog/TempoRubato.

The “Synth Essentials Collection” is a 3rd party product not related to TempoRubato. NLogSynth PRO comes itself with 224 factory sounds which I think is not too bad. NLog and Sunrizer have different sound aesthetics and vintage role models. Thus, it’s good to have choice.

If now 3rd parties starting to check if there is a market to sell sound collections like they successfully do for hardware synths or VSTs, it is something which I support because there is no difference between iPad synths and the other ones. However, it is not clear if this will work since the apps are already cheap, and even spending just a few extra dollars for 3rd party sound banks might not make sense if the app itself is just a few dollars ;-) However, I know the people from “App Sound” and they are doing a great job with their sounds.

Factory patches are always a good starting point, but real synth fun comes from developing your own sounds.

      Happy knobbing!

      Best
      Rolf

  2. Cool idea. Wouldn’t mind having a few new patches for nlog now and then. Don’t know if I want to spend $8 on them though. It would save me a bunch of time having pre made patches but also some of the fun in using nlog is building the patches! Good concept. Hope they do well and make more. I would love to see more iOS synth apps get their patch work.
