  1. btw… Beatmaker2 just got an upgrade. With audio tracks! and yes, free. No in-app nonsense!
and it works fine as miniature-daw. :)

    1. Beatmaker is a great App for creating sample based music/pre-production but is no where near the same beast as Auria in the DAW department.

  2. Serious question. I have Logic but it’s really old. I was thinking about upgrading it till i found out about this app. Should just get this app or is there a reason i still need Logic?

    thank you

    1. Hi Ben!
It depends on your needs, it has only audio, no midi.

If you only doing audio, no midi, go get it fast, it rocks!
      It’s has a great sounding mixer :-D

But still if you use other apps for midi/synth/drums you it’s easy to import audio from most apps to Auria for mixing, overdubbing, NanoStudio is one my favorite of many …

      1. Hey thank you so much, Yes i use other apps for drum/sounds etc.
I was only importing audio into Logic and mixing/mastering, I didn’t use it’s sounds.
I think i’ll miss a DAW on the my desktop, but i think Auria might be the best buy for my needs.
Is there any must have in-app purchese for Auria?
any other feed back on this would be great……
Lastly how does Auria stack up against Meteor (which i do have, but find a little lacking)?
        -thx

        1. Ok, then I think Auria is a must have for you.
Since i got Auria I hardly use my computer DAW’s, only in my studio when I multitrack recording a full band, these recordings I transfer to Auria for mixing.
The PSPaudioware EQ is must buy for mastering I think, the Guitar amps/effects to, you can use the amps, effect on whatever you like.
I also got the Drumagog plugin for my live drums. I will get the more advanced dealy & the Video import as well soon.
I also have Meteor, just used it a couple of times, don’t like the workflow at all.
For audio Auria is miles ahead of Meteor.

          1. Thank you so much for you thoughts on this.

            1. I’m glad to help.
I was wrong about the plugins, the master EQ is by “Fabfilter” not “PSPaudioware” as I wrote.

              1. Thank you Thomas i was ask you about the master EQ plugin. so it’s Fabfilter? Is it a must for mixing/master in Auria?

                1. The EQ on the PSP master strip is kinda basic high/mid/low thing. The Fabfilter can do up to 24 bands with all the bells and whistles. If its a must? Dunno, depends on what you do and if you need that kind of control over the sound. That fabfilter plugin can also be used on any channel, not just the master.

                2. Hi Ben!
Like ChrisG said you get 24 band EQ with the Fabfilter and it depend on your needs. What do you use for mastering in Logic? For me it is a must, great to have 24 bands of EQ at my fingertips, it can do wonders on the final mix or like Chris said on any channel.

  3. Does this app have any sort of enhanced tuning/pitch correction for vocals? Also, how does this stack up against Music Studio? Thanks.

    1. The description says “ReTune plugin included for auto pitch correction of vocals”.

    2. It’s totally different to Music Studio, Auria has no midi or built in samples or synth but it does have much better ways to record and mix live instruments or copy/pasted material.

Vocal pitch correction is an IAP. But I don’t know how well it works.

    3. Auria itself doesn’t do MIDI or contain any sounds in itself (that will be implemented soon tho according to the devs), if that’s what you mean by the comparison with MusicStudio. And as pointed out above it comes with a pitch correction plugin for vocals. MusicStudio is more of a bad sounding scratch/idea pad, but you could export all the tracks into Auria and make it sound way better then the built in mixer/fx section MusicStudio offers.

      1. I think that’s rather unkind to Music Studio! You could equally say that Auria is a Non Sounding Recording Accessory which is much more musical if you import some sounds from another application such as Music Studio……

  4. anyone has connected an sound interface (8+ tracks)? Which one? Under USB hub?

  5. It’s like having a micro Pro Tools on the iPad, it really is something!
I imported some raw 16 track WAV mixing desk (originally recorded on ADAT) files I had from 1997 from my old band, It took a while to convert them (maybe I missed something there) but after that I was blown away with it. OK it’s expensive, but £35? Really! I paid £1200 for a 8 track recorder years ago, and thats basic compared to this. I’ve now got a mint 12trk digital Akai DPS12i I can’t even give away for £100!

  6. Amazing!

Can’t wait to have MIDI tracks and a MIDI editor added. I’m a big fan of Meteor but I much more prefer the workflow with Auria.
I never had such a professional feeling with an ios DAW. Definitely not a music toy for everyone but a professional tool. And the sound quality will just blow your hears away!
If it will be compatible with Audiobus (and I’m sure it will) then it will definitely be THE revolution we’ve been waiting for.

App of the year for me!

  7. It is nothing short of awesome. Check my youtube video showing one of its plugins for EQ’ing. This is a game changer.

  8. I bought it, and tried a quick mix on it, it sounds great. I haven’t bought any of the In-App purchases yet, but didn’t see how to do side chain compression with the built in compressor, hoping that it is possible. I did find setting automation points a little finicky though.

  9. Hi,
Been working with auria…dropbox support is superb!
It is cpu intensive as we all could imagine it would be… So I hadnt even considered playing a bckgrnd audio synth with it…lol. I usually do all the copy and pasting to bm2…fly those joints to dropbox…grab em in auria! Psp pro q is insanely the best eq goin in my opinion…so effects and add ons will hit your pocket for 185 plus tax including the 50 release price for auria…and that too is a limited price. I got all the goodies! Looking forward to more plugs etc.

  10. AnyOne able to comment on how this compares to Meteor or Multitrack DAW? To my mind all of these need something like the trailed AudioBus to be able to record apps being played simultaneously. If that isn’t asking too much of the hardware?

    1. They all have their place. Multitrack DAW sounds excellent and benefits from the latest updates without having too many fancy features. Meteor is fully fledged, the virtual instruments are great and it has really good effects available IAP but Auria – WOW. Auria has definitely raised the bar for mobile music production. Superb.

      1. Well Auria is audio only. And overkill for an iPad. I’d go with Meteor if you want a cheaper alternative but with midi and virtual instruments. Or Multitrack Daw if you can do without the midi. Things might change when the next iPad is out and more interfaces etc tho.

  11. Words cannot describe how superior this app is. It is brilliant.

  12. It really nice but not without it’s bugs. The interface is amazing and is logically laid out. I tracked some guitar on it last night just through the IPad 3 built in mic and it sounded pretty damn good. The channel processing is top notch! That said if you are planning to c/p tracks from other synths you will quickly find that Auria uses a lot of processing power. Background audio does work with Alchemy, GEO synth, and others but becomes unstable due to memory use / allocation. NLog works well with it but there is some latency when hit the keys, once again due to Auria’ processing needs. It does crash, and in most cases requires closing the app and restarting it. I crashed 3 times on me in 30 minutes, mostly when trying to find which synth apps it plays well with. In all instances i only had Auria and one synth open. I don’t mean to sound negative as Auria is a huge step towards a great iOS recording platform. I would be leary to use it for a 24 track audio project but it really the best audio sketchpad for demo work.

  13. This is just awesome! And it *really* works like a charm so far!

  14. Just installed it! First impression: Fantastic! It responds to gesture commands as I imagined it should do. I think iPad audio recording became a serious business with it. Let’s see the learning curve…

  15. Little bit of sticker shock. Hopefully it really is THAT good. I think I’ll wait for reviews to start rolling in.

  16. it sure looks pretty from the screen shots in the appstore. I really hope its the answer we are all looking for…

    1. And whats that? To record a whole orchestra on an iPad?

  17. It has finally been released!!

Anyone that has it, let me know what it’s like..pleeeeease!
