Coming Soon: GlitchBreaks – iOS Manipulation Tool For “Glitching” Breakbeats!

Alex Matheu (from Negative Format / Distraub / Sector 9 Studios) has provided us with details of GlitchBreaks – his upcoming iOS Universal manipulation tool for “Glitching” breakbeats. GlitchBreak uses four audio channels setup like mute groups. You can quickly switch between them to construct new beats, or manipulate loop points to “Cut” or “Glitch” the breaks.
Certainly one to look forward to! We’ll let you know once GlitchBreaks is available.

Now do you have to compose the beats inside the app or can you copy paste tracks from outside?
I guess we can import any sound and not just beats ???

You can import sounds, and yes you can import any sound. Currently I am detecting BPM by sample length, but am working on making a setting to turn it off, because the app is great for mangling vocal samples as well.
I have gathered a bunch of artists to create custom beats for the app, along with them I will doing this as well, which will make up the factory content.

I forgot to mention, it is based on looping samples, so as soon as you trigger a pad it will loop the sound over and over, Not really meant to be a drum machine, so loading in a kick drum or snare would loop it.

I just made a quick video to give a little more insight into how the app works and looks. I just used my iPhone to video the iPad, so don’t mind the shaky cam, was filming with one hand, working the glitches with the other.

i am on the beta of this app, its incredible. alex has been working hard on this app at the expense of not even downloading recent worthy additions to the ios music arsenal he so loves. he is basically taking the time to make an app he needs for ios production and this is one that many of us indeed need. this app can twist, glitch, reverse breaks or any sound for that matter. so, if u like your beats broken and messed with, i doubt any other app will satisfy you other than this.
in a nutshell, its an app by a user for the users, a true labor of love actually. alex is one of the most technically skilled producers i know, and i do not say this lightly and actually, i tell everyone that this is the year that even the most sceptical will embrace the true potential that app music really has. alex has made a game changer, and i anticipate it to be one of the most important beat making apps in the ios store and will be most welcome along with auria and the much anticipated audiobus, which of course alex has had the foresight to sign up for to ensure maximum potential for the most effective use of this great app.
