Genome MIDI Sequencer (GMS) for iPad is a pattern based MIDI sequencer for controlling all your MIDI gear. You can sequence single patterns or an entire 16 track song. GMS is fun, easy and portable. Whether you want to make music from the couch, a hotel room or on stage, GMS is the right tool for the job.
It is great for people looking to try an alternate studio setup, searching for a compact sequencer to bring to band practice or those who just want to find a way to ditch the bulky laptop.
GMS easily syncs your drum machines and arpeggiators by sending and receiving MIDI clock messages. General MIDI files are easily exported and imported for integration with desktop apps.
GMS is compatible with the Line6 MIDI Mobilizer and any interfaces that support CoreMIDI using the Camera Connection Kit or Network MIDI. Network MIDI allows you to send events to your Mac Desktop or to other iOS devices and apps.
FEATURES:
NOTE: GMS does does not produce any sounds by itself. Some MIDI gear or software synths are required to use this app.

Must say I am a little dissapointed about how this work. When connected to my Nlog Synth, it stops sending note and sync messages when you close the app, thus you can not start a sequence in Genome, close it and then go to Nlog to modifiy the sound, while the sequence is still playing.
This must be something that can be corrrected. For instance funbox will still send note and sync signals to Nlog even when you close it.
So your saying Genome doesnt itself have backgrounding…..
Wonder if that feature is in the app description. Will have to go back to the app store and see if it is offered. If not. It might be a good thing to contact the developer and add that to a feature request update.
I would ask nicely too, these guys aren’t our slaves. But that’s just me……;)
Background operation is coming soon – it’s being worked on now.
just to close the loop – Genome got background mode. :)
