IK Multimedia have announced three new products today. Firstly comes the iRig MIDI – a Core MIDI interface for iPad, iPhone & iPod touch. Then we have SampleTank – the iOS version of their popular virtual sound workstation. Finally, to accompany the iRig MIDI, they have released iRig MIDI Recorder – a simple app that can be used to record and playback any MIDI sequence from and to any kind of MIDI-equipped musical instrument.

 

iRig MIDI

iRig MIDI is an ultra-compact standard Core MIDI interface for iOS that connects any MIDI compatible device to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

iRig MIDI connects MIDI keyboards, drum machines, drum pads, pedal boards and more to an iOS device to control not only the included SampleTank FREE but also a world of MIDI-compatible apps such as GarageBand. You can also use iOS apps to control external MIDI equipment such as sound modules, DAWs or lighting systems right from the mobile device.

iRig MIDI is the only compact iOS MIDI interface sporting 3 MIDI ports: IN/OUT/THRU. These connect to any standard MIDI jacks using the included 2 x 1.6m/5.2’ cables. iRig MIDI also has 2 LEDs for displaying the MIDI activity on the IN and OUT ports.

iRig MIDI also exclusively provides a micro USB port – with included cable – that connects to any standard USB power supply source so that the iOS device can stay fully powered during long sessions.

SampleTank for iOS

SampleTank® for iOS is the mobile version of IK’s SampleTank for Mac and PC, the leading virtual sound workstation for the studio, now available for your favorite iOS mobile device and designed for live performance. It is a 4-part multi-timbral instrument with a sound set of over 1 GB of samples for over 500 acoustic, electric and electronic instruments (including a selection of the best workstation sounds from SampleTank, orchestral sounds from Miroslav Philharmonik and synths sounds from SampleMoog) plus a selection of over 1,000 melodic and rhythmic patterns that span every musical genre. iRig MIDI Recorder for iOS

Available for Free at the App Store, iRig MIDI Recorder is a simple App that can be used to record and playback any MIDI sequence from and to any kind of MIDI-equipped musical instrument. iRig MIDI Recorder is the perfect companion to the iRig MIDI compact MIDI interface for iOS devices.

iRig Recorder and iRig MIDI together allows you to:

• Record realtime MIDI performances from keyboards, pedal-boards, drum machine, drum pads or any other type of MIDI controller
• Record data dumps from your MIDI devices in order to backup and restore their contents and settings later or to another unit
• Monitor the incoming MIDI signal to troubleshoot a MIDI setup or check what is being transmitted by MIDI devices
• All MIDI recordings will be automatically organized in iRig MIDI Recorder by creation date.

 

When needed, recordings can be exported via Wi-Fi, Email and iTunes File Sharing in Standard MIDI file format.
