iOS Music Production & MIDI Apps Ready for the iPhone 5 and its 4-inch Display

Click for the list of iPhone 5 Ready apps!

Apple’s iPhone 5 will finally be in many of your hands in the next few days and weeks, and one of the most anticipated features is the larger 4-inch widescreen display. Whilst existing apps will still work perfectly well on your shiny new device (keeping the same dimensions and appearing centered on the screen with black borders each side) you will no doubt want to try out some apps that make full use of the new wider screen.

We’ve been told that many of the developers of your favorite iOS Music Production & MIDI apps are currently hard at work to add iPhone 5 compatibility, with a few having already been updated before the new iPhone hit the shelves.

I don’t know about you but we’re really keen to see how developers will make use of the extra screen real estate. We might see extra octaves added to a synth’s keyboard or more knobs and sliders on each screen with less page switching. Some developers might add extra features to fill the void such as new effects units or a couple of extra devices. We might even see a few complete redesigns that take the app to the next level.

To help you find apps that are “iPhone 5 ready” we have added a new section in our iOS Music Production & MIDI app database where we’ll be adding all of the apps that are compatible with the new iPhone’s 4-inch display. We’ll be updating the list of all iPhone 5 compatible apps each day so make sure you keep checking back regularly!

  1. Thanks for this list! Hope the list is growing fast! Got my new iPodTouch last monday, hate the black bars on top and bottom!

  2. Excellent list, thanks! I’m looking forward to BeatMaker 2 supporting the iPhone 5 ;-)

I have a ton of music apps on my iPhone and I am worried that some of the older ones won’t ever get updated for iP5. Would be such a shame. I guess if they still function under iOS 6 then we should all be happy. Most seem to be okay as far as that goes (the only one that crashes for me is Tiny MIDI Stuff).
