Midi Studio is an iOS Universal MIDI controller that lets you play on a virtual keyboard or drum pads, and move faders and knobs. One of the best features is the ability to play your notes with velocity sensitivity – you can hit the screen, stronger or weaker. You can also change the modulation using the surface of the keys. You can change a pitch and use built-in arpeggiator and many other interesting features.

My first observations very positive.
1.
It works fine with Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit.
2.
I controlled my KORG OASYS with MIDI STUDIO – thru E-MU XMidi 1×1 – also works fine!
3.
Tried it with my ALESIS iO Dock controlled with some Mac MIDI-apps (Reason 4, NI FM8, NI Kore Player, M1LE, GarageBand’08) – without any problem.
The control surfaces are very attractive, all are nice playeable (e.g. the two keyboard’s manual, with their independent setting possibilities).
Two (display oriented) ideas of mine for the update versions:
- The drumpads would be more attractive with sharped contour – with shadows maybe – (instead this blurred).
- The drumpads can now trigger individually only – would be nice play them with swiping too.
