Audeonic Apps have released new versions of all their apps – MidiBridge, MidiVision and FreEWI to include OMAC support for switching apps remotely via MIDI commands.

The concept behind this is that a musician can switch between apps on their iDevice using keys or buttons on a keyboard or other MIDI controller, sequencing software or even from a remote iDevice using software such as TouchOSC, TB Midi or Midi Designer.

MidiBridge now adds a new ‘App Selector’ module which allows a MidiBridge user to ‘bind’ the MIDI messages generated by their equipment or software to the relevant OMAC app switch message. Simply activate the App Selector module on the MIDI port receiving the equipment messages, select the app you want to switch to and enter the appropriate MIDI message.

The App Selector also has ‘Next/Previous’ settings so that you can program your MIDI device buttons/keys to cycle through the list of configured apps in a round-robin fashion.

The OMAC fast-switching library has already been released and a number of popular app developers have indicated that they will add support for OMAC MIDI switching, so as these developers get on board, more apps will be switchable.
