PHYSYNTH turns your iPad into a piece of real vintage synth hardware. Powered by next-generation 3D graphics technologies, it is a stunning, beautiful device that will enable you to weave beautiful, fluid ‘Soundscapes’.
Physynth uses a state-of-the-art physics engine to trigger sounds using four real simulators, you charge physical objects with sound and collide them with other objects to trigger them. It is an entirely new way of creating music, a natural and fluid way to express yourself with a wide range of beautiful, realistic instruments.

the interface SUCKS !, first the super 3d model moves in the wrong direction for a real 3d effects, but secondly and more important is that the writing on the buttons is so super aged that you can’t read it. whats the sense of this ? ^^
the read me file is a joke, seriously who needs a fake book help file? why didn’t they invest their manpower in actually making an instrument out of it?
also i hope i just can’t find it at the moment but it seems that you can’t add filters to the bouncing ball things, so you have a load of preset sounds and can attach them to those four screens to play random melodies
DONT BUY THIS !
iTunes store needs a 24h store credit option – pronto !
I am the developer of Physynth. Let me first thank you for your feedback. If you have some feedback (positive OR negative), please let me know via @squaredape on twitter or my email/blog (http://www.simiansquared.com).
Upcoming features are:
- coreMIDI
- instruments
- functionality
All for free without any sort of in app purchase nonsense.
I am open to you contacting me directly for a chat, to see what I can do to make Physynth great. If you are really unhappy, please contact me and I will see what I can do to “turn that frown upside down”. Physynth is actually making a hell of a lot of people happy. We 100% did not stage any reviews or anything. In fact it would be quite difficult for an indie developer with little to no money or resources to do so. Why not watch this hands-on video review: from Tim Webb, who is well known and respected in the iOS music community for fairness: http://discchord.com/blog/2011/12/16/review-physynth.html
I understand you were put off by the Physynth ‘teaser’ trailer, but that is all it is, a teaser.
It looks like a big company made Physynth, but thats not the case, and you’re able to contact us directly and have your say on the blog, twitter or email (I check twitter most frequently).
Crap, I was just about to buy this. The reviews in iTunes look staged. The video on the website is just awkward. Who are they marketing this app to? Lets just get down to it: apps like AniMoog, Filtatron, Argon, and even BEBOT have set the standard for sound and synths on the iPad.
Thanks for saving me $2.99.
Other than the synths I mentioned – how do you all feel about them? I just found Sunrizer the other day that sounds really great. Cant wait for Alesis to release that 49 key iPad controller next year.
A few more synths for you. Korg ims-20, addictive synth, Nlog, and for your sampler Samplewiz. Honorable mentions go to the Eden synth from NanoStudio.

It´s not a new way like they say. I know an app doing exactly the same triggering only that Physynth is pimped up a bit. Soundrop !
Unfortunately it´s not what they have promised. This app makes no sense to me.
WTF no MIDI and animated ISO 3200 (or higher) picture noise. And it sounds even worse than it looks. Who needs this? Not me! I want my money back! <- (This is not pointed at iDesignSound)
Better save your money and buy some other good audio apps presented on this website in "What´s Hot" or in "App Of The Week". Don´t trust crappy TV adds.
Inadvisable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just tried Physynth and was less than impressed.
I’m sure a lot of effort went into the graphics but they detract more than attract because they make this synth difficult to play.
For example the keys are way too small to play accurately, the writing on the knobs and buttons is hard to read, and the tilting feature is out of synch with the angle of my ipad and it’s annoying.
Way too much space is wasted that could have been used for the keys. It seems that the graphics are the only thing this app has going for it but they actually make it harder to play.
Core midi, virtual midi, background audio, low latency, inspiring sounds – Physynth should focus on these things and then worry about graphics. I really can’t see myself ever using this app in the future.

This app should be refundable. The developers need to work on the file system and the sound engine. Fail.

Alchemy is another app you’ll want to look at for awe-inspiring sounds, among other things.
my favorite music apps (mostly synth) so far
ims20 // MS20 /SQ10
rebirth // tb303 / tr909 / tr808
nanostudio // their eden synth rocks
grain science // granular synth
addictive synth // wavetable, additive
dxi // fm synth
synth // classic mono synth with sample function, and its free
