  1. IK Multimedia rocks for making SampleTank for iPad a universal app. All my Sounds Packs I bought on the iPhone are available on my iPad. Great company and great products. Best sounding music apps around!

  2. It is a very good app. Professional sounds. For small gigs, I only need my iPad now.
But!! It does not support a USB Audio Interface through the USB Camera Connector Kit.
So I think it will not work with the Alesis iDock. Because that’s a USB Audio Interface as well.
I had contact with support, but they could not tell me they will support it. So I hope they support it in the iPad/ Universal app, but I’m not sure.
Then it will be a killer app.
It works very well through the headphones out –> DI. But I think that part is not professional.

  3. i love to try this out but i dont know if it works with the Alesis Idock
i asked the guys at ik multmedia over Twitter a couple of times, but they never wrote back.
Dont like to buy myself an App which is totally useless because of noncompatability
    :( :( :(

  4. Limited to 4 parts (simultaneous instruments) and lacks an integrated sequencer… I’ll continue using GarageBand.

  5. THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST – this 700 MB “giga-sampler” has simply the best Grand Piano sample ROM you will ever hear on iPhone/iPad and most likely a Grand Piano that beats many computer software ROMplers or dedicated hardware Piano Modules… totally playable and magnificent sounding pianos with fantastic “ULTRA LOW” latency option, superb tweakability of the sample A/S/D/R envelopes and very pleasant Reverb effect… but most of all the Grand Pianos are just an aural bliss… a super-realistic 400kg Grand inside your iPad… in my ears the pianos are better and more playable than my favorite Windows/MacOS software pianos (TruePianos and Pianoteq)… get this app, buy a decent MIDI masterkeyboard and you can blast away your fingers on a “real” Grand… i heard many “Giga Pianos” for Mac/PC and still i was blown away by the sound of this app… its an absolutelly PROFESIONAL level sampling… i certainly didnt expect my iPad to ever sound like this… i dont mind this is iPhone only AT ALL, i run it in 2x ZOOM on my iPad and the functionality is 100%… close your eyes and let the Grand Pianos blow you away… iam not an developer affiliate, iam just blown away that PRO audio developers are moving to iOS…

  6. It sounds fantastic, but it’s not robust and the functionality is lacking. It seems they’re more intent on selling you their MIDI hardware, for you to use it coupled to a PC than for it to be a mobile music system. The lack of Audiocopy blows my mind, a huge disappointment.

I also resent the size of the application (700mb) given that hundreds of kits are locked to be bought later. If I can’t use them (fair enough, their pricing model is their choice) then I don’t want to chew up space on my device lugging about files that are essentially dead to me.

I hope future versions improve on it, it sounds killer, but they need to address some of the teething issues pronto.

  7. I’ve bought guys and….no words, awesome app! the sounds are professional, and you could use it for a live or a studio session, the rhodes are great (i have a real rhodes and a nord stage so i know what i’ saying) the acoustic piano too but all the instruments are in a very high quality.
I plugged in my digital piano with a normal usb midi interface and it works good, no latency at all, good sensitivity.
Sincerly i don’t care if i have to wait a couple of weeks for the universal version (free upgrade if you bought the iphone one)
Yes you can export (not copy) your groove, i already tried with garageband, via multitrack daw and it works fine

  8. What a joke…
    VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

  9. iPad version still in development?
I’ve been waiting on this for so long and now the wait will be even longer :(

  10. I agree. There’s also no mention at all about audio record and export. Has anyone tried it? Can you export audio or audiocopy? And where is the demo / free version they talk about?

  11. Really? iPhone only and NOT even Universal app?! So why on earth every single promotional video features SampleTank running on iPad?
Releasing such music app these days that is not iPad native is just plain ignorance. How very disappointing indeed…
