Sketch Sound 3D allows you to shape and scalp your sounds in 3D, you can get going straight away with the existing sound bank; but things really get started once you load your own samples in. Sketch Sound 3D is a Lite version of Sketch Synth 3D and does not include control interface features such as Midi Out, OSC input and Kinect integration, if you are looking for these features then buy Sketch Synth 3D. If you just want to pick it up as a synth and start making 3d soundscapes and don’t care about controlling other synthesizers, then this is the version for you.
The internal synth lets you load in and apply effects to your own samples as well as built-ins, so you can really start plugging your own noises into it. Sketch synth has a unique workflow which involves drawing up to 16 patterns on 4 channels in 3D and then using the performance view you can swipe through different channels and patterns to perform your 3D soundscape. A visualisation panel also lets you view how your patterns are shaping up in 3D, and if you really want to fully immerse yourself in the experience then try using the OSC output to control animations and create a video that is controlled by the music you are drawing.
If you already have a copy of Sketch Synth 3D on either the iPad or a Desktop machine then Sketch Sound 3D can act as a wireless remote for it, using it’s OSC output.
