Shape of Sound have released version 1.2.0 of Sketch Synth 3D and Sketch Sound 3D – their 3D sound drawing tools for the iPad. This is a major update which includes many new features and improvements including AudioCopy/Paste, record, mute, solo and a metronome.

What’s new:

• Audio Copy & Paste, Record, Mute, Solo and Metronome
• Sequencer made significantly more accessible
• Sample triggering mode can be selected (useful for differentiating between repeating drum patterns and one shot samples)
• Several pitch change options added, scales still in progress
• New samples added
• UI and Graphics overhauled
• Options to output OSC / Midi even if not current output (Sketch Synth 3D only)
• Lots of bug fixes

 

 

Sketch Synth 3D for iPad gives you a completely new way of turning short sketches into sound loops. To draw sounds in 3D you can use a touchpad, accelerometers and even use it’s OSC input to connect with an Xbox kinect (via OSCeleton or OSCKinnection). This gives you maximum control over the shapes that your sounds take on. Standard XY Pads can give you some extra control over parameters; but Sketch Synth 3D lets you add in that third dimension that can really let you smooth out and add shape to a sound.
