Retronyms have released version 2.21 of Synth – a polyphonic 2-oscillator subtractive synthesizer and sampler for the iPad. The update makes the custom skin add-on pack free!
Synth is a polyphonic 2-oscillator subtractive synthesizer and sampler for the iPad that was used by the Gorillaz in recording their album — “The Fall.” Synth is primarily a performance synth containing more than 40 instruments and adjustable parameters for delay and distortion, but there is an in-app purchase to include a patch editor enabling you to create your own patches.
Synth’s parameter editor provides professional control and sound design via an add-on purchase (currently priced at $9.99)

lol at the op-1 skin … i’ll stick with the real thing, thanks ^^
I like Retronyms, their creativity and efforts are impressive except with this app. I really want to try “Synth” out, but like most folks, I too am really turned off by the IAP to unlock the app to make it somewhat useful, but then still not even have ACP? I would be happy to pay full price if it had the basics like patching,ADSR, recording and ACP. No music app for iOS should EVER be restrained to being only useful if in a studio connected to other hardware. iPad screams mobility and freedom, failing to have ACP shouts back, damn freedom, get a cable and sit down. Why even bother making apps for mobile devices if the apps are not mobile? I just don’t get that?
+1
“Why even bother making apps for mobile devices if the apps are not mobile? I just don’t get that?”
I would rather see them concentrating on taple top. I still need audio copy and not just paste, more sounds, master effects and some way to internally delete samples in the “my sounds” folder. Plz make it worth the money, Retronyms.
Yep, totally agree with you.
Retronyms, please concentrate your efforts on something useful, like implementing Core MIDI sync into ReBirth instead of giving us useless updates with ” pretty pictures”…
This is all very well but this app is effectively a player unless you stump up the $9.99 for the synth editing capabilities. That’s expensive for what it is when you compare it with the likes of NLog and Sunrizer synths which are far superior is terms of sound and features. Also I would have expected them to have added audiocopy by now :(
